How to make dal Makhini

Dal Makhani

Dal Makhini  is made by whole urad  Dal (Black lentils) and rajma(kidney beans) The Dal needs to be soaked for four hours and then boiled adding, hing, finely chopped  garlic, salt and turmeric .


Boil  the Dal for at least  45 minutes on low flame.
Mean while  chop  onions, tomatoes and green chillies for the seasoning.

Heat oil in a vessel,add 1/2 tap of cumin seeds, bay leaves and one small cardamom . Add the onions and garlic  ginger  paste,  and saute till brown,.Then add the tomatoes  and again saute  for few minutes till  soft and blended, you can add a little  water  to make it soft. Now add the green chillies, garam masala, corainder powder, red chilli powder.Pour in the boiled Dal,  adding 1/2 a cup milk. Let  simmer  for  another 15 minutes.

Ready  for dinner

Add cream and butter and corainder  leaves to garnish on top and serve hot with roti/naan or rice.
