HOLI DELIGHT - THANDAI

THANDAI 


With holi  festival  round the corner, we all look forward  for something exotic.

 Thandai

 is one such exotic  drink that makes   the holi mood more colourful. A HOLI  party  is colourless without  a glass of thandai, a special  drink offered to guests, who visit  us on this day.  

Let's celebrate  holi  with safe  colours  and cool  ourselves  with Thandai.

Ingredients

Almonds - 100gms
Green cardamon powder - 1 tsp
Poppy seeds -  50 gms
Fennel seeds - 10 gms
Saffron.          - few strands
Melon seeds  - 25  gms
Sugar.              - 100 gms
Rose petals.      - half cup
Black peppercorns , 1 tap ( crushed) 
Milk  -    one litre

Method

Soak the almonds, poppy  seeds, melon seeds and fennel seeds, for two  hours. Remove skin of almonds and grind with other soaked ingredients and peppercorns.( If using pepper powder just add it  )in a mixer to a very smooth  paste.
Boil milk,  add  the almond  paste,sugar and boil for another 5  minutes. Let cool. Add the green cardamon  powder   and let the flavours  blend well giving a nice aromatic  flavour. Strain the mix into a vessel, refrigerate  for a  nice  cooling. Pour and in tall glassest op it with rose petals and saffron strands. Serve  chill.
